The Department of Information Systems (DIS) is the part of the Faculty of Computer Science and Management at the Wrocław University of Science and Technology (WUT), Poland.
The Department of Information Systems (DIS) was established at the Faculty of Computer Science and Management by the Rector of the Wrocław University of Technology on December 1, 2014. The DIS Department consists of 18 Computer Science scientists including one full professor, 3 professors of WUST, 10 assistant professors, 4 research assistants as well as 2 senior lecturers and Ph.D. students. The Head of the Department of Information Systems is Professor Ngoc Thanh Nguyen.
The DIS Department was composed of computer science research workers coming from two divisions of the Institute of Informatics, being closed down, namely Division of Information Systems and Division of Knowledge Management Systems. The DIS Department follows the tradition and achievements of both divisions.
Our main objective is to carry out basic and applied research in the field of Information Systems, Knowledge Management, Collective Intelligence, Multi-agent Systems, Computational Intelligence, Machine Learning, Semantic Information Retrieval, Multimedia Information Processing, System Performance Analysis and Improvement, and E-Learning Methodologies.
We regularly chair and co-organize three international scientific conferences: ACIIDS, ICCCI, and MISSI, which proceedings are published in Springer’s LNCS/LNAI and Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing series.
We also teach students of the Faculty of Computer Science and Management at two levels of education: three-and-half-year bachelor's degree and one-and-half-year master's degree. Our Department cares for two specialisations of Information System Design (PSI) and Information Systems (SI) for second-cycle studies in the field of Computer Science. We supervise doctoral students attending extra-mural courses as well.
