The 4th Asian Conference on Intelligent Information and Database Systems (ACIIDS-2012) took place in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. ACIIDS 2012 was co-organized by National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences, National Taichung University of Education, Taiwanese Association for Consumer Electronics (TACE), and Wroclaw University of Technology (Poland). General Chair of the conference was Professor Ngoc Thanh Nguyen. Three representatives of our Division: Prof. Ngoc Thanh Nguyen, Dr. Bogdan Trawiński, and Mr. Grzegorz Skorupa took part in the conference.
Above 470 papers from about 15 countries were submitted to the conference. Only 161 best papers were selected for oral presentation and publication in the three volumes of Springer’s LNCS/LNAI series (Vol. 7196, 7197, 7198). Keynote speeches were given by four Professors Jerzy Świątek (Poland), Shi-Kuo Chang (USA), Jung Wang (Hong Kong), Rong-Sheng Xu (China).
The great success was achieved by the team of authors from our Division including Professor Radosław Katarzyniak and his two doctoral students Wojciech Lorkiewicz and Grzegorz Skorupa who were awarded one of “The Best Paper Award” for the paper titled . A Multi-agent Strategy for Integration of Imprecise Descriptions.
Dr. Bogdan Trawiński chaired the special session on Multiple Model Approach to Machine Learning (MMAML 2012) with 10 papers accepted and orally presented. The MMAML 2012 Special Session was co-organized by three colleagues Prof. Oscar Cordón (Spain), Prof. Przemysław Kazienko (Poland), and Dr. Bogdan Trawiński (Poland).
