The 5th International Conference on Computational Collective Intelligence Technologies and Applications (ICCCI 2013) took place in Craiova, Romania. The conference was organized by Wroclaw University of Technology (Poland) in cooperation with the University of Craiova (Romania). The conference was run under the patronage of the IEEE SMC Technical Committee on Computational Collective Intelligence as well as of the Romanian Association of Artificial Intelligence (ARIA) and IEEE Romania (Computational Intelligence Section). General Chair of the conference was Professor Ngoc Thanh Nguyen. Four representatives of our Division: Prof. Ngoc Thanh Nguyen, Prof. Janusz Sobecki, Dr. Bogdan Trawiński, and Mr. Marcin Pietranik took part in the conference.
Many papers from 24 countries all over the world were submitted to the conference. Only 72 papers with the highest quality were selected for oral presentation and publication in the volume of the Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence series (vol. 8083). Moreover, 19 additional papers were presented during poster sessions and were published in the form of chapters of the scientific monograph issued in Studies in Computational Intelligence (vol. 513) by Springer Verlag.
Keynote speeches were given by Prof. Jacek Koronacki, Director of the Institute of Computer Science, Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland), Prof. Andrea Omicini from University of Bologna (Italy), Prof. Sergiu Nedevschi from Technical University of Cluj-Napoca (Romania), and Dr. Ulle Endriss from University of Amsterdam (The Netherlands).
